On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond.America250 is striving for “350 by 250” – our goal to engage all 350 million Americans by our nation’s 250th anniversary. 250th Anniversary Celebrations in the First State
At the state level, DE250 (delaware250.org) is the official state organization coordinating the 250th celebrations in the First State. According to DE250:
On July 4th, 2026, America will celebrate 250 years of independence. Delaware 250 is the organization set forth to help plan the statewide celebrations. This milestone anniversary provides an opportunity to reflect on Delaware’s unique story and its contributions over the course of the Nation’s history. Delaware 250 seeks to:
* Tell the full and honest story of Delaware’s past, which allows more people to see themselves reflected in our State’s history.
* Frame 1776 as a beginning, not the end, of our American story, as we continually strive toward creating “a more perfect union.”
* Cultivate a deeper appreciation for Delaware’s history among state residents and visitors, so that we may thoughtfully consider our history and inspire the next generation of caretakers of the rich and diverse histories of our State.

Other 250 Celebrations
While the focus of America 250 and DE250 is on the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, other Revolutionary War organizations, like the Hale-Byrnes House, will be celebrating all of the 250th anniversaries of events of the Revolution: from the Battles of Lexington and Concord in 2025 to The Treaty of Paris on September 3, 2033.
